"Not equal are those
of the believers who sit (at home), except those who are disabled (by injury or are
blind or lame, etc.), and those who strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with
their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred in grades those who strive hard and
fight with their wealth and their lives above those who sit (at home). Unto each,
Allah has promised good (Paradise), but Allah has preferred those who strive hard and
fight, above those who sit (at home) by a huge reward; Degrees of (higher) grades
from Him, and Forgiveness and Mercy. And Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most
Merciful." (4:95-96)

The Superiority of the First Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah

All praise is due to
Allah, Lord of the Worlds. May peace and blessings be upon the Chief of
the Messengers, Muhammad.
Indeed it is a great
favour and blessing from Allah that He has made for His righteous
servants periods of time within which they can increase in good deeds to
attain great rewards and one of these opportunistic periods is the first
ten days of Dhul-Hijjah (the final month of the Islamic Calendar, in
which the hajj is performed).

The Wisdom Behind Fasting
|
Posted by abdunoor on Wednesday, June 14 @ 17:39:54 UTC (18937 reads)

Author: Shaykh ibn al-'Uthaymeen, may Allh have mercy upon him
From the wisdom of fasting is that: It is an act of
worship done for Allh, in which the 'abd (servant) draws closer to His
Lord by abandoning the things that he loves and desires, such as food,
drink and sexual intercourse. So because of this, the truthfulness of
his Faith and the completeness of his servitude to Allh become
apparent, as well as his love for Allh and his longing for what Allh
has prepared for him (of good). This is since the one who fasts does not
abandon something that is beloved to him except for that which is
greater to him than it (which is Allh). When the believer knows that
Allh's contentment lies in the fasting - which is abandoning those
desires that he naturally loves - he will give his Lord's contentment
precedence over his desires. So he abandons his desires no matter how
much he longs and yearns for them, because his delight and the
tranquillity of his soul lies in his abandoning all that for the sake of
Allh.
