"Not equal are those
of the believers who sit (at home), except those who are disabled (by injury or are
blind or lame, etc.), and those who strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with
their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred in grades those who strive hard and
fight with their wealth and their lives above those who sit (at home). Unto each,
Allah has promised good (Paradise), but Allah has preferred those who strive hard and
fight, above those who sit (at home) by a huge reward; Degrees of (higher) grades
from Him, and Forgiveness and Mercy. And Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most
Merciful." (4:95-96)

The Superiority of the First Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah

Author: Shaykh ibn al-Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy on him
All praise is due to
Allah, Lord of the Worlds. May peace and blessings be upon the Chief of
the Messengers, Muhammad.
Indeed it is a great
favour and blessing from Allah that He has made for His righteous
servants periods of time within which they can increase in good deeds to
attain great rewards and one of these opportunistic periods is the first
ten days of Dhul-Hijjah (the final month of the Islamic Calendar, in
which the hajj is performed).

The Wisdom Behind Fasting
|
Posted by abdunoor on Wednesday, June 14 @ 17:39:54 CDT (2070 reads)
|
Author: Shaykh ibn al-'Uthaymeen, may Allâh have mercy upon him
From the wisdom of fasting is that: It is an act of
worship done for Allâh, in which the 'abd (servant) draws closer to His
Lord by abandoning the things that he loves and desires, such as food,
drink and sexual intercourse. So because of this, the truthfulness of
his Faith and the completeness of his servitude to Allâh become
apparent, as well as his love for Allâh and his longing for what Allâh
has prepared for him (of good). This is since the one who fasts does not
abandon something that is beloved to him except for that which is
greater to him than it (which is Allâh). When the believer knows that
Allâh's contentment lies in the fasting - which is abandoning those
desires that he naturally loves - he will give his Lord's contentment
precedence over his desires. So he abandons his desires no matter how
much he longs and yearns for them, because his delight and the
tranquillity of his soul lies in his abandoning all that for the sake of
Allâh.

One would
agree that from the most unfortunate things possible is to be the rightful
recipient of some good news – a present maybe, a gift of money, a bequest etc –
but then one remains unaware of this fact, or doesn't pay attention to all the
phone calls informing him of such glad tidings.

Fasting on the Day of 'Arafah

Tajuddin B. Shu'aib
The ninth day of
Dhul-Hijjah (the 12th and final month of the Islamic calendar) is the day of
'Arafah. It is the day when pilgrims stand on the plain of 'Arafah to pray. On
this day, Muslims all over the world who do not witness the annual hajj should
spend the day in fasting, in preparation for the three days festivity following
'Eid ul-Adha (the celebration marking the end of the hajj
commemorating the Prophet Ibrâhîm's willingness of sacrifice).
Abû Hafsah, may Allâh be
pleased with him, reported that the Prophet, upon whom be peace,

Advice for Those Intending Hajj

Taqwaa
The pilgrim
must have taqwaa (fear and reverence of Allaah). He must strive to avoid what
He forbade. [Refer Al-Qur'aan 2:197]
The Prophet
sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said: "He who performs
Hajj and does not speak obscenely or commit evil will return clean from his
sins just as the day his mother gave birth to him." [Saheeh Al-Bukhaaree,
vol.2, no.596, p.347]. If he did so, his Hajj would be righteous (mabroor).
Allaah subhanahu's Messenger sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said: "The
righteous hajj has no lesser reward than Jannah (Paradise)." [Saheeh
Muslim, vol.2, p.680, no.3127].

Zakaah al-Fitr
|
Posted by abdunoor on Monday, November 21 @ 00:28:16 CST (2552 reads)
|
from the works of Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips and Muhammad al-Jibaly MEANING
Zakaah al-Fitr is often
referred to as Sadaqah al-Fitr. The word Fitr means the same as Iftaar, breaking
a fast and it comes from the same root word as Futoor which means breakfast.
Thus, Islamically, Zakaah al-Fitr is the name given to charity which is distributed
at the end of the fast of Ramadaan.
